A digital conference on fashion, sustainability, technology and innova- tion,broadcasted from a studio in Stockholm on 31 August, which coincides with the launch of Stockholm Fashion Week.

Bringing together international leaders as well as emerging talents, and surrounding communities, for conversations and collaborations around LEAD- ERSHIP – the projects and initiatives that are driving the change for a sustainable future.

Danica Kragic is a Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH. She holds MSc in Mechanical Engineering and PhD in Computer Science. She is the Director of the Centre for Autonomous Systems. She is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.

Michael B. Reidbord is a technology and retail executive experienced in building companies in the U.S., Asia, Latin America, and Europe and involved in numerous start-up successes within the technology and consumer products sectors. Mr. Reidbord founded technical apparel producer Brilliant Asia Corporation and was also President & CEO of Blue Dasher Technologies, an award-winning location-based services provider.

Alfredo Orobio is one of the leading names in co-creation. He has studied and tested the benefits of co-creation in the creative industries with his own brand AWAYTOMARS, a collaborative network for design talent with the objectives of promoting co-creation, advancing creativity and striving for a more inclusive fashion industry.

Before DVF, Michael oversaw Customer Insights & Marketing Campaigns at Gucci, and prior to Gucci was responsible for digital database marketing at Gilt Groupe's Jetsetter.

SPEAKERS 2018

Anna Gedda was appointed Head of Sustainability at H&M in January 2015 and also became a member of the company’s executive management team. 

Anna led the work on the H&M group's new sustainability strategy launched in 2016. The strategy includes the ambition for the H&M group to only use 100 % recycled or other sustainably sourced materials by 2030 and to become climate positive throughout the value chain by 2040.

Before taking over as Head of Sustainability at H&M, Anna Gedda held different roles at the H&M Sustainability Department from 2008 onwards, including Social Sustainability Program Developer and Social Sustainability Manager.

Anna, with a background at the Ministry of Finance, holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and a Bachelor degree in Business and Economics.

Matthew works at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, where he heads up the Innovation Agency. He delivered the world's first digital skirt for Nokia, wireless charging clothing for Microsoft, a 3D-printed bionic arm to help celebrate the launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and what Forbes described as 'the first example of truly beautiful wearable tech' for Disney. He has also overseen some of the most groundbreaking developments in Augmented and Virtual Reality that London Fashion Week has experienced.
Matthew was named in the 100 most influential in the world of Wearable Technology, amongst the 'Top 15 people in UK tech' by BBC3 and as a 'fashion-tech trailblazer changing the course of retail' by Drapers and a ‘pioneer’ by Wired.

Upon graduation from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Martine Jarlgaard was hired to work with Vivienne Westwood, where she headed the Vivienne Westwood Red Label. Following this Martine worked with All Saints in London and as Head of Diesel Female Apparel in Italy before returning to the United Kingdom to launch her company, Martine Jarlgaard London.

At London Fashion Week, in September 2016, Martine Jarlgaard London presented the world's first Mixed Reality fashion show. This was a collaboration with FIA, DoubleMe, Ravensbourne University and W Hotel London.

 

In May 2017 Martine Jarlgaard London launched the first Blockchain-powered supply chain

transparency fashion pilot at Copenhagen Fashion Summit in collaboration with Provenance, A

Transparent Company and FIA. Martine Jarlgaard London had been invited as one of ten innovative companies to present the latest and most groundbreaking solutions to solve the fashion industry’s most urgent sustainability issues.

In January 2018 Martine Jarlgaard presented her new Extended Reality art installation MEET

YOURSELF at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark supported by Unity Technologies and Microsoft.

Michael has held senior positions in the U.S. and Europe with companies including Palm Beach and Bayer, and oversaw global manufacturing and operations for Lion/GSCM in Germany: a leading supplier of technical products to police, fire, and emergency response personnel.  

Before founding the Fashion Tech Consortium, Mr. Reidbord was Chief Operating Officer of Kloog, Inc., an IoT and Smart Cloud and Wearables enabling platform based in Silicon Valley that was acquired by Facebook.   Michael is a professor at The Fashion Institute of Technology and received his BA from the University of Pittsburgh.

Karinna Nobbs is a freelance academic and strategist. She is a published author and guest lectures and researches on the digitalisation of the fashion industry at London College of Fashion, Conde Nast College of Fashion and Design, ESCP Business School, Antwerp Management School, Parsons New York and Pearl Academy New Delhi and recently was appointed as an affiliate Professor at ESCP Europe. Karinna currently co-leads the Strategy and UX Team at creative technology agency Holition. In the last two years she has also consulted with agencies such as King and Partners and Sunshine, media brands like Business of Fashion and Decoded Fashion and luxury brands including The Vampire’s Wife and SWEAR.

Michael Crooks is a marketing strategist with a research background in biochemistry and experimental psychology conducted at the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently the Senior Director of Global Relational Marketing at Diane von Furstenberg. Before DVF, Michael oversaw Customer Insights & Marketing Campaigns at Gucci, and prior to Gucci was responsible for digital database marketing at Gilt Groupe’s Jetsetter. He has also held various posts in marketing, merchandising, and menswear accessories design at Tommy Hilfiger, Lord & Taylor, and Sid Mashburn.

While at university after competing for Penn’s nationally-ranked wrestling program, Crooks found a passion for research: he worked for pioneering biophysicist Dr. Britton Chance, conducting near-infrared (fNIR) biochemistry imaging to examine brain patterns in the prefrontal cortex during problem solving. He then served as Research Assistant to Dr. Aaron T. Beck, the founder of Cognitive Therapy.

After leaving the world of academic research to pursue a business career in fashion and luxury, Crooks has spent the last few years utilizing an interdisciplinary background across creative & quantitative capacities to fine-tune an evidence-based, customer-centric approach to marketing – leveraging data analytics, clienteling, training, and events, as well as creating experiential moments that combine digital and physical elements to drive business growth via innovation.

Carole Collet has dedicated her career to developing a new vision for sustainable design, and pioneered the discipline of Textile Futures in 2000. She is Professor in Design for Sustainable Futures at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London, where she currently holds two key roles. As Director of the Design & Living Systems Lab, she explores the interface of biological sciences and design to challenge established craft and manufacturing paradigms and propose news models to biofabricate materials and products of the future. As CSM-LVMH Director of Sustainable Innovation, she has recently set up Maison/0, a catalyst for creative-led sustainable intelligence. Collet’s research work has been published and featured in international exhibitions and she regularly contributes to conferences on the subject of textile futures, biodesign, biomimicry, synthetic biology, future manufacturing and bio-materiality, sustainable design and climate change.

Alfredo Orobio is one of the leading names in co-creation. He has studied and tested the benefits of co-creation in the creative industries with his own brand AWAYTOMARS, a collaborative network for design talent with the objectives of promoting co-creation, advancing creativity and striving for a more inclusive fashion industry.

Since its launch in 2015, AWAYTOMARS has been highlighted within the industry for its innovative uses of technology. It now comprises more than 10,000 registered designers from 90 countries, making it the biggest fashion collective in the world. 

Alfredo holds an International Relations degree and also studied luxury and fashion brand management. As a research lead, Urs Bergmann pushes the limits of machine learning at Zalando Research – a unit within Zalando SE that covers diverse AI topics ranging from Natural Language Processing, Reinforcement Learning, Recommender Systems to Fashion Image Analysis and Manipulation. As one of Zalando’s research and data scientists, he gathered experience in business fields ranging from logistics to size recommendation, and selected contributions have been published at top-tier conferences in the field.

Learning systems have been his focus since his diploma thesis on Reinforcement Learning with Neural Networks at the University of Heidelberg. During his Ph.D. at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies and a following postdoc position at the Humboldt University of Berlin, he further deepened his machine learning experience into timing-based learning, probabilistic and Bayesian modelling.

Jannis is the CEO of Looklet and joined the Swedish B2B Fashion-Tech company in 2015. Looklet is a provider of turn-key technology solutions for the scalable creation and personalization of fashion imagery. Clients include luxury retailers and fashion houses in the U.S. and Europe. Jannis is passionate about innovation within Creative Operations and addressing the needs of mass image production for the demanding fashion industry.

Before Looklet, Jannis worked at the Boston Consulting Group from 2009 till 2015 where he focused on Retail, Corporate Development, and renewable energy.
